Correct me if I’m wrong, but you may wish to make use of the cross-post feature rather than linking directly to another post on a fixed instance. The link kicks visitors off their prefered instance.
I think “kicked off” is not quite the right explanation. Linking to a post in another instance this way leads to being logged out. I can see a link from lemmy.world while still in my home instance, but if I visit lemmy.world, where I don’t have an account, I am logged out.
Even worse, lots of mobile apps haven’t figured out federated link recognition. So the Lemmy.world link opens in the in-app browser and you see the mobile version of the site, instead of simply using the app to browse the thread.

I’m pretty sure that’s actually what I did and Lemmy cross posting is just a bit weird…
Either way, you don’t get kicked off your instance by viewing posts from communities on other instances. That’s not how federation works 🙂
