Knowing monocles and seeing the list of supported devices, it’s probably “just” a rebranding of CalyxOS or GrapheneOS with small modifications to the UI, so that it looks a bit more modern.
At least with a custom rom flashed. I doubt they are rooted, since that would open a huge attack surface.
I also did not want to downplay their efforts. Arne is doing a great job of making open source privacy friendly apps more accessable to common users by providing a coherent branding and a cleaner more modern UI. Maybe somewhat similar to snikket’s initiative, yet broader.
