I actually like FOSS alot, I don’t want big tech taking it over and dictating how things should be done.
I don’t want FOSS helping out google, meta, microsoft etc. FOSS is meant for society and people not for companies to make more profit and in process of that destroying society and exploiting people.
EDIT:
Just to add, I’m aginst using term open source which is taken over by comapnies and companies use it to wash themself.
Also, most popular open source software is developed mainly with developers/funding from big companies like Microsoft, Meta or Google.
Big open source projects don’t just happen because some “nerds” have too much free time.
Developing large, stable and quality software requires lots of full-time professional developers, and they in turn require money.
In many cases, popular FOSS software/libraries/frameworks are software developed for internal use by big companies which they then open source, because they aren’t making money directly with that project anyway. And if it’s open sourced, there are more eyeballs that could find bugs.
Big corporations are actually the driving forces for most FOSS.
