    The problem is that there are currently no good (cheap, scalable) technologies to store these large amounts of electrical energy.

      There is. For example, when energy levels are high we can pump water up a mountain (or something other that’s naturally higher) and store energy in the form of potential energy. When energy is low, that potential energy can be converted to electrical energy with a turbine.

      I’m not an electrical engineer or something, but that’s an option.
