For Army Reserve Soldier Michael Cross, the world as he knew it ended in an instant. One minute, he’s in college, and the next, zombies are roaming the highway around him, breaking into cars, and tearing people apart. Join our survivors as they band together, fortify a safe haven known as the Tower, and discover that the Infected are far from the biggest threat in a post-apocalyptic Los Angeles, where the rules of human decency no longer apply.

Little food. Little water. Little hope. Who is lucky enough to say: “We’re Alive?”

“We’re Alive” is really great - it came out before “The Walking Dead” and is so much better than that TV show in so many ways. They have good character development, a slow introduction that follows a bunch of soldiers from an army base to various other places while meeting people from the general population that are trying to survive and from then on, the story unfolds.

I really love that there are no stupid, slow “walkers” like there are in the TV show. The zombies are an actual threat and are done in a way that can be very creepy at times - props to the sound design of this show.

After listening for hours you actually find out at some point how the apocalypse even started in the first place and how people became infected. You know, it’s an actual plot - something TWD dropped entirely after the CDC episode which frustrated me to no end…

I highly suggest subscribing to their Patreon, because - sadly - the free feed has way too many ads for my taste and you can listen to whole episodes without any interruptions there.
