The Big Bang Theory gets so much love but I just can’t handle the laugh track pacing. Reminds me of Friends. Characters say something halfway funny and then pause for 5 seconds while the audience laughs… it’s so weirdly disjointed

Interesting thought: if you’re an actor in such a show, would that speech pattern eventually slide into your everyday talking?

Someone says Star Wars. Laugh track for 10 seconds.

Haha nerd funny. Because he likes star wars. You know, like the biggest franchise of all history

I’m going to get absolutely skinned alive here and tossed in a vat of salt after but - Star Trek - DS9.

Huge Star Trek fan but I tried twice and failed to get into DS9. People who love it whose opinions I generally value keep telling me it’s amazing but I just found it too slow. Got about half way through season 2 before giving up.

Okay here’s a question: Can a show that started out great but had a middling/bad ending still be considered great? Like GoT and House Of Cards. IDEK if people even finished House Of Cards.

Yes. I rewatch Game of Thrones sometimes because it’s a fucking amazing show. It’s just that it has a very unfortunate ending.

Friends. It’s not bad, but it’s just kinda mid. I’ve had far more fun with Frasier, The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air, Parks & Rec, Community, heck even The Suite Life Of Zack & Cody

Friends was entirely a moment in time, along with many other shows in my opinion. It just doesn’t hold up.

Totally and I don’t know about other countries but it used to air every day here in the UK just before streaming took off in the late 00s. It was often the only remotely interesting on so I watched it to death meaning I can’t stand it anymore.

I’m reaching a little here, but I couldn’t get into Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. I gave it around 10 episodes IIRC and just didn’t like any of the characters or find the plot very interesting. It’s possible the English VAs had something to do with it too; I normally watch in Japanese but I was watching FMA with friends that don’t like subs.

I was surprised because it’s ranked so highly among anime.

The dub is better, IMO. FMA is also a slow burn. There are 64 episodes instead of a standard 50 and they do take their time ramping it up. Once it did get properly cooking it held my attention in a vise grip and became one of my very favorite animes.

My friend’s and I did not think 6 feet under held up at all.

People say it has the best finale, and I know exactly why they say that, but it does not work on 2025.
