I literally didn’t put it together that it was FS-Tab until a couple years ago when I was setting up an encrypted drive manually in
/etc/crypttab
, something I had done many times before, when it finally clicked.I’ve used Linux heavily for about 15 years.
Same, mentally I called it f stab for years and it dawned on me after using Linux for well over ten years.
unzip; strip; touch; finger; grep; mount; fsck; more; yes; fsck; fsck; umount; clean; sleep
Not gonna lie, i’ve had this exact string as my WhatsApp Status since around 2010 until i recently discovered that it still was there :D
FS TAB - 3 syllables
F STAB - 2 syllables
The choice is clear.
We geeks do not care about syllables! We are the ones who “shortened” the 3 syllable “World Wide Web” to the 9 syllable “www”!
Still only 3 syllables in German 🤷
