Prime Minister Mark Carney will lead a minority government after a very close general election race that left the Liberals just three seats shy of a majority.
It’s “razor-close” because of the how many individual ridings were within tens of votes. There will be tons of recounts. The result could’ve easily been much different, and may still be different. This was a very close election.
It was way closer than it should have been. Over 41% of a highly engaged electorate at best saw no deal breakers in Poilievre’s platform. That’s got to be unsettling to anyone with any form of vulnerability or marginalized position. Nearly half of Canadians are ready to see you as an optional inconvenience under (unrelated, no less) pressured circumstances.
The battle for this nation’s soul is far from concluded.
Razor close?
Why because it’s a minority government?
You know, a minority government is closer to actual democracy than a majority one. This just forces everyone to work together.

Because it was within 3 riding of a majority and a ton of the riding were close calls and a bunch of risings on both sides flipped.
I’d call that razor close.
The PC needed a majority to win. It was not close.
