    I still feel that these will be used in place of structural changes and we’ll just end up polluting more.

      Yeah, with how horny companies and politicians are for CO2 extractors, even though scientists generally say they’re unviable, I’m extremely skeptical of these efforts. Chances are the meat and dairy industry will use this as an argument that something could be done and we don’t need to turn to large-scale veganism, but they won’t actually do anything with it, unless they’re truly forced to.

        Yeah, they all drool over news of technology like this being developed, and prototypes of the deus ex machina “greenhouse gas removal machine” like it (and to be clear, we need those, desperately!)

        But then they’ll all, companies and governments alike, turn around and not actually fund the development itself, let alone large-scale, global deployment.

        I have a feeling it’ll end the same way as with the “CO₂ rebalancing certificates”, which like for example this one some turned out to basically be a full scam.
