I wouldn’t trust them to keep me ‘hidden’ but I do trust the commercial VPNs not to snoop on my traffic or do other nefarious things. Something like this, I wouldn’t trust either way.
What do you mean by snoop? I expect every VPN to snoop. For torrents I do not care(deniability is enough). For untraceability I use TorBrowser. For public WiFi I use my own wireguard VPN.
