Companies don’t like it when you undermine their revenue stream 🤷
But why allow this subreddit at all then?
The illusion of freedom, I’m guessing.
Make a subreddit full of bots who just complain about why X, Y, and Z alternative actually suck so people just shrug and say “May as well just stay on Reddit,” while censoring genuine posts that promote viable competitors which would actually be a risk.
Looking at the subreddit, half of the feed is articles about whatever the hell New Digg is (i.e. the new project of Spez’s buddy /u/kn0thing, AKA Reddit cofounder Alexis Ohanian), and there are several posts just bashing Lemmy. There’s even a week-old anti-Lemmy post sitting at 0 points with almost 100 replies still on the front page of the sub, nested among other posts about Digg that received a lot more points.
Centralizing dissent makes it easier to squash
So you’re the one who literally filled my entire feed with bot spam! No matter, I blocked the whole instance.
Sorry for that. It was a bug in the code. Didn’t want to do that.

The idea is to get people to join the Fediverse. Fediverse users can already use the service.
