Are we using “Stardew Valley” as a genre name now? That sucks.
Have you never recommended a game to someone by referencing a game they know that it’s similar too?
Like, we literally have well-established genres called Metroidvania and Rogue-like
“Metroidvania” and “Rogue-like” aren’t names of existing games, though, they’re genre names. The games themselves were called (Super) Metroid, Castlevania and Rogue. It’s about grammar, word definitions and style, not about comparing games to other games.
Sure, but I’d say “it’s like [game name]” or “similar to” or “[game name]-style”, not “it’s a [game name]”.
Huh. That’s very intriguing. Maybe something twin will play with me, but they don’t like horror so much.
