Some are blaming Germany for high electricity prices in other parts of Europe. Are they right? How connected is the European market and does weather really influence the price of electricity?
Good article, but putting that graph about long-term household prices in an article about short-term market prices is maybe not ideal. :)
(For Germany, those sucky, 39ct/kWh average prices are heavily affected by contracts made or last updated in 2022 when fossil gas was “scarce”. On new contracts, you can easily go below 30ct. I do suspect that effect exists in many other countries too though, so most of the graph may be inflated.)
