      There’s a balance in all things. Same with non-romantic relationships - you need friends you can be open with, but people who need constant emotional labor are just draining, in terms of mood, energy, and affection for that individual.

      … but yes, that is a recurring problem with dating standards. There remains a preference for the ‘easy’ parts of toxic masculinity, regardless of the fact that those ‘easy’ parts are incompatible with the other desired characteristics of their ideal boyfriend.

        The most toxic part about all this is the demand for an ideal boyfriend in the first place.
        No human is perfect.
