      Tove Jansson wrote a variety of stories using the moomins, in a wide range of tones, each reflecting on what was happening in her life when she wrote them.

      These comics have a much more adult and angry style compared to the child-friendly grander works.

      As someone whose “baseline” was established by the 1990 TV series, the idea of Sniff being acid with his words is hilarious.

      The comics also tend towards the more mundane. In the TV series the hattifatteners are a non-speaking fantasy creature that move in swarms, attracted to lightning storms as they feed on energy of lightning strikes. In the comics they just show up and ask for cocktails :D
