Under some circumstances, if you throw a D8 and then a D12 at an enemy, thanks to the D8’s greater pointiness you actually have to roll a D12 and D8 respectively to determine damage.
Die piercing damage scales inversely with the size of the die. d20? Basically round. Bludgeoning only. d4? The only weapon with a d20 damage roll
I bought my wife a beautiful set of metallic dices. Our table takes 1d20+3 damages everytime she rolls the D4…

I’m enjoying the D&D comics lately. Feels like Randall has started playing haha
But the d12 would be denser and heavier right? At range, I’d go with the d12 or d20 for more damage. I suppose for close up melee a d4 or d8 might be somewhat more effective against chain or cloth armor.
