Located in eastern Ukraine, Mariupol, a city of half a million souls, became wealthy from its steelworks and coal mines. It is now 90% destroyed. In 2016, as bombs fell on the outskirts of the city, it became increasingly clear that war was coming. Despite the threat, everyday life went on as normal. Lithuanian director Mantas Kvedaravicius, who was sadly killed during the siege of the city in April 2022, has filmed a poignant portrait of a city before it was destroyed forever.
