As much as I like browsing the Fediverse with Liftoff, RIF was just such a refined app. At the end RIF was what Reddit could have been.

Can anyone explain why some lesser known 3PA are still working?
Not exactly sure but other apps where not as widely used as RIF (read: not as expensive to run since today) and at least try to keep them going by charge for it monthly.
Infinity seems to still work.
The RIF dev probably revoked this API key himself before to reddit admins got the chance.
