I’ve recently picked up Berserk again. It’s one of my all time favourites, in my Top 3 at least. I don’t think I’d have the love and appreciation I have for Mangas as a whole today if it wasn’t for the incredible work Miura delivered with this epic tale.

Also, Attack on Titan, since my wife bought the entire collection last week and why not read it if it’s so readily available?

I’ve a bunch of series that I’m reading on and off.

In One Piece I’m at chapter 1070-ish. I caught up last summer and will probably do the same this summer.

In Berserk, I’m at volume 18. I love it but it’s such a shame that Miura couldn’t finish it.

In Gunnm (Alita), I’m at volume 6. Really cool manga, and the world reminds me of Midgar from Final Fantasy 7.

In Please don’t tease me Nagatoro I’m at volume 15. A lighthearted romantic comedy series.

I also just started reading Love Hina, also romantic comedy. I read the first two volumes or so like 10-15 years ago but never finished it despite liking it.

I’m also reading YuYu Hakusho, a shounen battle manga where the protagonist fights demons. It sounds generic but the YouTube channel SuperEyepatchWolf mentioned the anime in a video some time ago and was full of praise.

      You sound busy lol

One Piece is way too intimidating for me right now. Maybe I’ll tackle it one day, but absolutely not right now.

YuYu Hakusho is collecting dust on my shelf, it’s been ages since I’ve last read that. It really is a classic and most of what’s generic about it only seems that way because it influenced so much of what followed it. Spiritrasenganmehamehadouken, amirite?

I definitely finally gotta check out that Alita stuff soon. I always intended to, but something else always jumped the queue. Everything that resembles Midgar is something I’ll obviously have to give a shot just out of principle.

Eh, it sounds more busy than I actually am. There are weeks, sometimes months where I don’t read anything at all.

About One Piece: Yeah, I can see the sheer mass being super intimidating. But this series has probably the best world building of everything I’ve ever read, seen, or played. It manages to give characters that at first appear to be just comedic relief side characters tragic backstories that make you care about them. My recommendation to anyone who is even slightly interested in One Piece is to try and ignore the number of chapters/episodes and just start reading or watching it. It you like it it’s a great adventure story, and if not you can drop it anytime.

Currently reading Chainsaw Man whenever a new chapter comes out, I’m slowly getting all available volumes as print and I’m reading that again as well. Along with that I’m reading Bleach.

Primarly “Welcome to Demon-School, Iruma-Kun!” Since it stills that Isekai/Slice of Life-itch. Too bad, that most Isekai were discontinued after the crazy hype in the 2016s. Recently started reading "Song of the Night Walkers, as anilist recommended it to me. Otherwise lots of webtoons:the Gamer, unordinary, tower of god… Since I have been rewatching Tokyo Ghoul recently, I plan to reread the manga. First time I thought the pacing was not so good, hopefully I can get through it a bit better this time around.

My hype for anything Isekai-related died midway through the second season of the Re:Zero Anime, but I’ll always fondly remember the flood of Isekai stories the early 2010s gifted us. So, so, so much Truck-kun material.

I never really got into Berserk somehow, might give it another try. I just caught up with Chainsaw Man which I absolutely enjoy. The panels are convoluted and messy at times, but good in general. Another pet peeve of mine is One Piece, which I’ve been following again for the last couple of months. The story finally got some traction going towards the end, which is about time to say the least. Yeah, that’s pretty much it, although I still got Hells Paradise on my reading list, so there’s that.

Berserk is just peak Dark Fantasy / Horror and the best among all of them, in my personal opinion. Miura was a whole different level of genius when it came to making his audience feel… well… everything. Happy? Check. Angry? Check. Tense and anxious? Check. Depressed? Check. Relieved? Check. Hopeful? Check. Hopeless? Double check. If he wants you to feel a certain way, boy does he make you feel a certain way. Not to mention the art style is just out of this world, although admittedly not for everyone. At least for me, I have yet to find a Manga with a style I love more than Berserk’s.

Chainsaw man is next on my list right after I’m done with AoT. I loved the first season of the Anime and can’t wait to dive into the Manga headfirst. I’ve got enough time to fill between the bi-monthly releases of the new Neon Genesis Evangelion editions.
