Hello folks! I have these switches in my bathroom.

The rightmost is the lights, and the middle one is the bathroom fan, and I’d like to replace that middle one with something I could load tasmota on (or some other open source firmware), without replacing the other switch, the sockets, or the faceplate.

I haven’t seen any smart switches that have a form factor that would fit through this faceplate, though; they seem to mostly want to be the entire electrical box.

If it weren’t for the electrical plugs I could maybe replace this with some kind of 2-gang thing, which isn’t really what I want but could be fine, but as it stands I’m not sure what my options here are.

I don’t need the new switch to necessarily look like the old one, I just want it to fit in the same box and use the same faceplate. Do you folks have any recommendations?

Use a shelly plus 1 mini, it works from 110V up to 240V.

The software contained could be used without cloud and uses MQTT to operate it like a Tasmota device. Setup is done the same way as on Tasmota switches using the device AP. It also reports the device CPU temperature.

One thing though, it needs phase AND neutral wire to work. But as you have plugs wired nearby you could borrow the neutral line from there. You should consider using additional quick connector terminals to split the wiring. A 3 port on the electrical plug side for splittibg neutral wire and at least a 4 port (5 port if the power phase wire for the second switch is routed via the first switch) to be fittet in addition to the shelly.

The quick connectors needed is not a shelly thing but needed for all remote switches as they need operating power to work beside the bare switch lines.
