tbf, I wouldn’t be surprised if he never has actually read an entire book. You don’t necessarily need to have read an original source to parrot some of its contents, there’s plenty of other ways.

In Germany “Mein Kampf” in its unedited, uncommented form is banned and maybe that’s not a bad idea. Prevents dimwits from reading it unfiltered and … become president with a twisted world view heavily influenced and inspired by one of the worst dictators and murderers in humans history.
It’s not really banned, though. You can still legally own, buy or sell one of the original copies, even if they show a Swastika.
Up until the end of 2015, unedited, uncommented editions of the book were banned because of copyright. Copyright protects the work of an author for 70 years after his death. The Author, Hitler, died in 1945, his wealth and property fell to the german state, so the finance ministry of bavaria owned the copyright to the book and simply prohibited any reprints under copyright law.
And while the finance ministry of bavaria insists on the claim an unedited and uncommented version would fall under spreading anti-constitutional propaganda, this has never been ruled in a court of law.
