    If true, did they ignore Egypt’s warnings because of incompetence or because of malicious intent? Doubt we’ll ever know the truth.

      Most likely both. It’s not implausible, that they assumed “something big” just meant a slightly more intense rocket campaign.

      Also, we don’t know the track record of Egyptian intelligence, maybe they’re the service that cries wolf.
