Because we already have, when the time zones were created. All time zones are just offsets to UTC/GMT. And as you’ve observed, society at large wants to use a localized offset because it just feels natural to do so.

Draft beer, can’t say I’ve had that in a while. You know your in a smaller town when everything only comes in cans and bottles. Then since both glass and aluminum are to of the easiest materials to recycle and reuse indefinitely, we do the most American things possible, throw them all I the trash with no thoughts on why we didn’t just buy a recycling bin, as all they sell is recyclables. Guess we have to worry about those napkins getting in there lol
