The problem is that Trump, and his believers, will see this as praise and affirmation on how he’s the best.
Now if Time made 2 categories, worst and best person of the year, things would be seen in a different perspective.

This is how it’s always been done. You can disagree with that policy, but in that context there’s nothing untoward going on here.
