Fairmont, WV – Pierpont Community and Technical College will host a series of events open to the community during “Your Community’s College Week” November 11 through November 15. The week-long celebration of community and collaboration will offer volunteer opportunities, a full lineup of community workshops, and events for all ages across Pierpont’s campuses in Fairmont, Bridgeport, and Clarksburg.

The week will kick off on Monday, November 11 with a Day of Service offering several opportunities for individuals to join Pierpont faculty, staff, and students in making an impact in their local communities. The Day of Service will kick off at 10:00 a.m. at Pierpont’s Advanced Technology Center in Fairmont with a welcome from President Hayward. Volunteers will then disperse to their respective sites, which include the Union Mission of Fairmont for gift wrapping, designated food drive delivery locations to drop off non-perishable food items, and the VA Hospital in Clarksburg to deliver greeting cards for patients.

On Tuesday, November 12, community members are invited back to Pierpont’s Advanced Technology Center for a luncheon featuring the “reintroduction” of the institution as West Virginia’s newest standalone community and technical college. The program will feature an overview of Pierpont’s 2024 – 2026 Strategic Plan and exciting updates from across campus. The luncheon is free and open to the public. Registration is required for those planning to attend.

Individuals of all ages are invited to participate in the community workshops on Wednesday, November 13. The day will feature over ten unique workshops hosted by faculty from a number of academic programs at Pierpont. Attendees can choose from workshops in medical coding, blood typing, writing, sensory design, sheet metal drilling and riveting, and cooking, among others. A Kids’ Literacy Night will offer young learners a unique experience combining literacy and culinary science. All workshops are free and open to the public. Seats are limited, and early registration is encouraged.

The week will culminate with a magic show by America’s Got Talent duo Anthem and Aria. The show is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. at Pierpont’s Advanced Technology Center. All ages are welcome. The event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be available.
